Finlandia 200 - Suomalainen muotokuva 1809-2009
13.11.2009 - 14.02.2010
An extensive review of Finnish portraiture presents art from the period of Finland’s autonomy to this day. The works tell stories of power and bravery, but also of the heroism of everyday life and the family. In addition to commissioned portraits of famous personages, the works on show also include depictions of ordinary people, milieu portraits as well as contemporary art that challenge the boundaries of portraiture. The private concerns and circumstances of the artists are refl ected by the many self-portraits and pictures depicting family and artist friends.
